Kabale Town is located in southwestern Uganda and is the main town of Kabale District. The name “Kabale” comes from the Rukiga word Ka-bale, meaning “small stone.”
Kabale is about 142 kilometers from Mbarara, the largest city in western Uganda, and about 410 kilometers from Kampala, the capital city.
The town is close to the Katuna border between Uganda and Rwanda and shares boundaries with the districts of Kisoro, Ntungamo, and Rukungiri.

Lake Bunyonyi

How to get to Kabale
Kabale can be reached either by road or by air. Traveling by road from Kampala follows the Kampala–Masaka–Mbarara route and takes about 8 to 9 hours. By air, tourists can fly from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kisoro Airstrip, then continue by car to Kabale.
