Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Mgahinga National Park

Meet your driver guide at the agreed point and start your journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. The drive takes you through scenic countryside views with green hills, farmlands, and small villages along the way.

Make a stop at the Uganda Equator Monument for photos and a short experiment showing the movement of water across hemispheres. Continue the journey and stop for lunch at a local restaurant before proceeding to your booked lodge in or near the park. Check in, have dinner, and rest.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. The park rangers will explain the trekking rules, assign guides, and prepare you for the experience.

Enter the forest with your ranger and guides to begin the trek in search of the mountain gorillas. The activity can last between two and six hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once you find them, spend one hour watching their behavior as they play, feed, and care for their young ones.

After trekking, return to your lodge for lunch. You can choose to relax or visit a nearby community for an optional cultural experience. Enjoy dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Batwa Cultural Trail

After breakfast, join the Batwa cultural trail, led by the Batwa people themselves with support from park rangers. Walk through the forest as they demonstrate their ancient skills such as hunting, fire making, gathering wild fruits, and using herbal medicine.

Visit the Garama Cave, once home to the Batwa king. Inside the cave, you will listen to traditional songs and dances that echo their deep bond with the forest. After the experience, return to your lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 4: Return to Kampala or Entebbe – End of Safari

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and start your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Stop again at the Equator for photos and lunch before continuing to the city. You will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport or your preferred location, marking the end of your 4 days Mgahinga gorillas and Batwa tour.
